Sagna Joins Manchester City
Manchester City has confirmed their first major signing of the summer as they have agreed terms with Bacary Sagna to move to the Ethihad stadium come next season.
The 31 year old ís currently a free agent as his contract with Arsenal has ran out and the two parties have failed to reach an agreement for a contract extension.
The France international right back has signed a three-year contract with the reigning Premier League champion after confirming on Thursday that he would not renew his deal at the Emirates Stadium and has been handed the number 3 jersey; the same number he wore while with Arsenal.
Arsene Wenger signed Sagna from Auxerre in July 2007 and He went on to make 284 appearances for the north London outfit winning a single trophy(2014 FA cup) and was twice voted into the PFA Premier League team of the year.
A statement on Arsenal's official website confirm the move, thanking Sagna for his contribution to the team and wishing him well in future.
"Everyone at Arsenal Football Club would like to thank Bacary for his fantastic contribution and wish him all the best for the future," the statement reads.
Sagna becomes the fifth player to leave Arsenal for City in recent times, following on from Emmanuel Adebayor, Kolo Toure, Gael Clichy and Samir Nasri.
sagna is expected to link up with Manuel Pellegrini's squad at the end of the World Cup in Brazil.
