Germany Tops FIFA Ranking, NIgeria Moves To 34th
Germany has moved to the summit of the FIFA ranking displacing Spain after their victorious outing at the just concluded World Cup in Brazil.
There are however positives for Nigeria as the Super Eagles team moved 10 spots from their previous ranking to place 34th footballing team in the world, 3rd in Africa.
According to the FIFA ranking released on Thursday, Germany, Argentina and Netherlands occupy the 1st, 2nd and 3rd spots respectively.
Columbia, Belgium and Uruguay are all ranked 4th, 5th and 6th as the poor performance of the former world champion, Spain see them slip seven spots down to 8th and host, Brazil sits just above them in 7th spot, Switzerland and France completes the top ten ranked team.
There were big movements for the African continent too as Algeria displaced Cote d'Ivoire as the highest ranked team in Africa sitting, 24th with the Ivorians ranked 25th. Nigeria (34th), Egpty (36th) and Ghana (38th) completes the top five teams Africa.
Surprise Quarter finalist Costa Rica are ranked 16th in the World as USA remain the best placed Concacaf team in 15th.
Portugal (11th), Italy (14th), and England (20th) drop out of the top ten
