Charlie Adam Handed 3 Match Ban For Stamp On Olivier Giroud

Stoke City midfielder, Charlie Adam has been suspended for three matches by the Football Association after a violent conduct in his sides 1-0 win over Arsenal at the weekend.

Charlie Adam was caught on camera treading on Arsenal striker, Olivier Giroud's lower leg as he attempt to make a tackle in the midfield.

Thou the 28-year-old denied any wrong doing, the FA upheld the charge against him and found him guity by a three man panel of former referees who reviewed the footage and advised the FA what, if any, action they believed the match referee should have taken had it been witnessed at the time.

"Adam had denied the charge, but it was found proven at an Independent Regulatory Commission hearing," said the FA on its website.

The sanction means the midfielder will miss the next three games against Norwich, West Ham and Aston Villa.

Saturday's incident was not seen by match officials but captured on video.

Club Executive, Tony Scholes expressed his disappointement on the verdict of the FA on the club's official website;

he said: "I am extremely disappointed for the effect this is going to have on Charlie and on the football club,"

"However, I am not surprised because clubs like ours very rarely succeed in appeals to the FA."

The win against the Gunners left Stoke in 13th position in the Premier League, six points above the relegation places.
