Ronaldo Breaks Portugal's All Time Goal Scoring Record

Cristiano Ronaldo has broken Portugal's all time goal scoring record after scoring two goals in his team's 5-1 victory over Cameroun yesterday.

Ronaldo's goals for his natinal team, Portugal now sum-up to 49, two above national team's talisman tally of 47.

Portugal went ahead in the 21st minute on the night when Joao Pereira pulled the ball back from near the byline for Ronaldo to skip past his marker and fire a low shot past Guy Rolland Ndy Assembe to set a new scoring record of 48 goals.

Vincent Abubakar levelled two minutes before the break as he was given time to control the ball on his chest and score with a shot on the turn.

However the former African champion were made to pay for their uncharacteristic play in defence as they conceded four times in the space of eighteen minutes in the second half.

Aurelien Chedjou, made an audacious pass straight to Raul Meireles and the midfielder made no mistake to put Portugal back in front in the 65th minute.

Fabio Coentrao added another two minutes later after he was set up by Silvestre Varela before Edinho snap up the fourth in the 77th minute after Essembe punched Ronaldo's shot straight into his path.

Ronaldo completed the scoring in the 83rd minute, firing in a snap shot from 15 metres after two Cameroon defenders failed to clear the ball to record his 49th goal in the colours of Portugal and breaking a record he had earlier set on the night.

The Ballon D'or Holder however wasn't really thrilled as he feels breaking a record only comes naturally

"I don't worry about breaking records, it something that happens naturally, with lots of dedication," the 29-year-old told RTP television.
