EPL Week 32 Review: The Good, The Bad, The Ugly

Week 32 set of fixtures of the English Premier League can never be more dramatic than it did as some ground breaking results were recorded as well as scandalous losses, some other teams trying to keep their heads above the water for survival and others further sealing their faith to the relegation zone with yet another uncharacteristic display.

The biggest Shock of the weekend came in the Chelsea's derby game away to Crystal Palace where a John Terry own goal mid-way into the second half denied the 'Blues' and opportunity to extend their lead at the top of the table with Liverpool and Manchester City breathing down their neck.

With Chelsea loosing their match to lowly rated Crystal Palace, Manchester City were granted the opportunity to move top of the EPL table with a better goal difference if they win, but that was not to be, as they were also held to a 1-1 draw by Arsenal on their visit to the Emirate stadium.

The drama however was not over, Liverpool having been unbeaten in their last fourteen league games so far hosted Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday and just as his former boss, Andre Villas Boas, Tottenham Manager, Tim Sherwood suffered a similar faith as he watched on while his team were pummeled 4 goals to nil making it 9-0 on aggregate against Liverpool in a single season. The victory took the 'Reds' to the top of the table with 71 points, two more than Chelsea who lie second with 69 points and 4 more than Manchester City on 67 points but has two outstanding matches to play.

Arsenal's draw at home to Manchester City threw the race for the fourth place on the log table open. With just seven points separating fourth placed Arsenal on 64points and Everton on 57 points, Everton traveled to London to play relegation threatened Fulham as they made no mistake dispatching their host 3 goal to one to move within 4points of the last Champions League spot keeping the dream of an European appearance next season alive.

Hunted by their recent poor run of form this season and Despite going down to an early goal in the first half, Manchester United were able to save face and get back to winning ways as two goals from inspirational forward, Wayne Rooney, inspired the 'Red Devils' to a 4-1 victory over Aston Villa.

Other fixtures for the week saw Newcastle suffer a shock 4-0 defeat away to Southampton at St' Marys, Swansea put aside their midweek draw at Emirate to pound Norwich 3-0 and there was late minute drama at 'The Hawthorns' as two late goals for both sides see Westbrom and Cardiff share the points in a 3-3 draw.
