The former world No. 8 leapfrogged into the top 4 for the first time to attain a career high No. 3 after defeating No.1 ranked Rafael Nadal; 6-3,6-3,2-6,6-3 in the final of the 2014 Australian Open on Sunday.
Fellow Swiss and seventeen time grand slam winner, Roger Federer however dropped two places to 8th position after losing to Nadal at the semi-final of the just concluded tournament.
Other notable movement in the ranking is Juan Martin Del-Potro who now rank 4th.
Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic however maintained their lead as No.1 and No.2 respectively as South Africa Kevin Anderson ranks 22nd.
