Manchester City Pound Tottenham 5-1, Goes Top Of EPL Table
Stevan Jovetic scored his first Premier league goal for Manchester City since his move from Fiorentina as City brush past Tottenham 5-1 at the Whitehart lane, to go top of the log table, displacing Arsenal to second position.
Sergio Aguero, put the visitors ahead before a second half rout that sees Edin Dzeko, Yaya Toure, Stevan Jovetic & Vincent Kompany all putting the ball past Hugo Lloris.
Sherwood made one change from the victory at Swansea, with Gylfi Sigurdsson replacing Nacer Chadli.
Manuel Pellegrini made five alterations to his City side after the FA Cup scare against Watford, including recalls for captain Kompany and David Silva.
City capitalised on Arsenal's slip-up when they drew Southampton on tuesday and went into the game all 'blazing' knowing a win will take them to the top of the table and wasted no time in doing that as with just 15 minutes of play, David Silva slipped in a perfect ball to Sergio Aguero who delicately stroke his shot past Lloris in goal to put Manchester City ahead but not without a sacrifice as he limped off minutes later with a suspected hamstring injury.
At resumption of play, Danny Rose was sent off after just six minutes as he was adjudged to have fouled Edin Dzeko in the box, and Yaya Toure coolly convert from the spot to take City's lead to two.
Dzeko pounce on a rebound in the 53rd minute after Lloris had earlier tipped David Silva's drive onto the post, for City's third of the game
Tottenham did pull one back as Capuoe hammer home from six yards after City clear from a corner.
But a perfect night was rounded off late on when Jovetic found space in the area to thump beyond Lloris via a deflection, and Kompany's late effort rounded off a five-star performance.
The Win means City has won eighteen of their last twenty games and eighth successive victories.
