Manchester United Returns To Winning Ways, Defeats Cardiff 2-0

Manchester United pickup a convincing 2-0 win over their opponent Cardiff City after series of poor performances which has seen them crash out of the Capital-One Cup, FA Cup and place 7th on the English Premier League table.

David Moyes was hand a boost prior to the game as injured trio, Robin Van Persie, Wayne Rooney and Fellani all returned  from injury and the capture of Juan Mata a icing on the cake.


Juan Mata making his debut since his club record transfer from Chelsea help create the opener scored by Robin Van Persie in the first half before Ashley Young Drifted in from the left wing to crack in a superb 25-yard shot after the break.

Newboy, Mata made his debut for his new team while returning Wayne Rooney had to settle for a place on the bench and Van Persie takes his place spear heading the attack.

It took just six minutes for the spark to be rekindled, with Mata starting a move which resulted in Young delivering onto the head of Antonio Valencia, who could only crack his header on the crossbar.

Cardiff could not keepout United for too long as Van Persie Headed home the opener after cardiff goal keeper saved his initial attempt.

United missed series of chances thou minimal, and could have been punished when Craig Noone crossed from the right, only for his delivery to narrowly evade Campbell.

Cardiff came out blazing and pile pressure on their host and nearly got the equalizer but Declan John's cutback once again missed Campbell. 

Winger Ashley Young made it two in the 59th minute when he received the ball on the left before cutting inside and skipping past two challenges to unleach a powerful shot into the far corner from 25 yards.

David Marshall did very well to keep the the scoreline at two nil as he tip Valencia effort onto the post before mata's effort was deflected wide.

Rooney who came in for Van Persie also curled a 20yards effort wide in injury time.

The win takes United to 42points, 10 behind league leaders Arsenal who are on 52points.
