Nigeria has moved up two places in the recent FIFA ranking released on Thursday to place 45th in the world, 6th in Africa.
The newly released ranking sees the Super Eagles rake in a total of 620 points.
Current world champion, Spain maintain their position as the best footballing country in the world according to the ranking followed by Germany in second, Portugal climbs to 3rd a position previously occupied by Argentina who moves three places down to sit 6th.
Brazil, the host of the World Cup also climbs three places to sit joint 6th with Argentina and Greece returns to the top ten position since 2012 as they lie 10th on the ranking.
In Africa, Cote d’Ivoire, moves three places up to sit 21st in the world, 1st in Africa followed by Egypt (24th) then Algeria (joint 25th with Bosnia and Sweden) Ghana and Cape Verde completes the top five teams in Africa.
Nigeria’s other opponent at the world cup, Iran moved five positions to rank 37th.
The next FIFA/Coca-Cola World Ranking will be published on 8 May 2014.
