Uruguay striker, Luis Suarez, is a doubt for the FIFA world cup in Brazil.

The Liverpool forward injured his knee while in training with his international team-mates on Tuesday and is will have a keyhole surgery on Thursday to repair damage to his meniscus.

The length of Suarez's lay-off is likely to depend on the extent of the damage discovered during Thursday's procedure but an estimate on his recovery range from a minimum of fifteen days to four weeks.

27-year-old Suarez who was voted both the Professional Footballers' Association and Football Wri15 days to ters' Association player of the year awards for the just concluded 2013/2014 season by fellow players in the English Premier League, is believed to be a key factor in the attack for coach Oscar Tabarez's team.

Oscar Tabarez will have to rely solely on the partnership of Edinson Cavani and veteran, Diego Forlan in the attack if Suarez do not recover intime for the football show piece.

Uruguay will open thier worldcup campaign in Group D against Costa Rica on 14 June before playing England on 19 June in Sao Paulo before rounding off the group stage matches when they play Italy.
