Official: Vidic Agrees Two Year Deal With Inter Milan

Inter Milan has announced on their official website the signing of Manchester united Captain, Nemanja Vidic on a free transfer. The center back had earlier hinted that he will not extend his current contract at Old Trafford when it expires at the end of the current season but will be moving to Italy instead.

32 year old Serbian defender has agreed a two-year deal with the Nerazzurri and will join the Serie A outfit once his contract with the Premier Leage champions expires this summer.

Club President, Erick Thohir has expressed his joy at the acquisition of the experienced defender, describing it as 'crucial' for the team.

"Vidic is a great champion,' Thohir said on inter.it."

"I am extremely satisfied with the completion of this agreement that will bring Nemanja to Milan.

"He is one of the strongest defenders in the world, for his characteristics, his international experience, his charisma as a leader will be crucial for the team and the growth of our younger players.

"He will add value to the club and will be another pillar for the construction of a great Inter."

Thohir also thank United for the professionalism shown during negotiation.

"Finally, I want to thank Manchester United, Nemanja and his entourage for his availability and the professionalism shown during the negotiation process."

Monaco and Galatasaray also showed interest in signing Vidic, but the centre-back judged Inter's offer, which is believed to be worth €3 million (potentially rising to €3.5m) per year, to be the most appealing.

Vidic joined  Manchester United in the summer of 2006 from Spartak Moscow and He had since won five Premier League titles, three League Cups, the Champions League and the Club World Cup with the Red Devils.
