Brazil 2014: Chile's Win Seals Spain's Exit

Shock: The world champions are out of the 2014 World Cup after two consecutive defeats
The La Furia Roja has crashed out of the ongoing World Cup in Brazil after loosing 2-0 to Chile; their second defeat in succession in the tournament.

Eduardo Vargas put the Chileans ahead before Charles Aranguiz doubled the lead just before halftime to make sure the current world champion plays no part further in the competition.

After a 5-1 hammering by the Netherlands in their opening Group B clash, Coach Vicente del Bosque made two major changes to his starting lineup dropping Gerard Pique and Xavi Hernandez and replacing them with the duo of Javi Martinez and Pedro Rodriguez respectively but the change in personnel made little difference as they capitulated once again in another lacklustre showing.
Back of the net: The Real Madrid goalkeeper could do nothing about this goal
Del Bosque's team started like a house on fire but the Chileans weere able to hold them off real good and in the 20th minute of the game the South Americans took the lead.

Alexis Sanchez race through on the right side of the centre circle before laying a through ball onto the run of Aranguiz who then squared to Vargas in the box, and he cleverly dribled Casillas before sliding the ball into an empty net.
Disappointing: Casillas only managed to claw away Alexis Sanchez's free-kick into the path of the goalscorer
The world champions almost restored parity eight minutes later, only for Diego Costa to find the side netting after pouncing on David Silva's headed pass.

Charles Aranguiz made it two for Chile not long after then as he capitalized on another Iker Casillas Error from Sanchez's Freekick, controlled and shot beyond the Spainish captain making a comeback very unlikely.
Technique: Aranguiz's toe-punted effort found its way into the back of the net
Busquets should probably have put Spain back into the contest early in the second half, but he inexplicably missed the target from close range, and from then on Spain lacked any real invention.
Chile v Spain
Victory for Chile means that their final group game against the Netherlands will determine who finishes top with both now through to the last 16, while Spain face Australia with nothing left to play for before heading home in despair.
