Barcelona Completes Rakitic Signing
Barcelona have announced the signing of Croatia international, Ivan Rakitic from Sevilla for an unspecified amount. Rakitic according to a statement on the clubs official website will put pen to paper on a five-year deal.
The deal will also see youngster, Denis Suárez move in the opposite direction on a two seasons loan.
"FC Barcelona and Sevilla FC have reached an agreement for the transfer of Ivan Rakitic. Ivan Rakitic will sign a contract with FC Barcelona for the next five seasons" the statement read
"Both clubs have also agreed for Denis Suárez to be loaned to the Andalusian club for the next two seasons." it concluded
26 year old Rakitic joined Sevilla from Schalke for €2.5 million in January 2011 and has established a reputation for himself as one of the finest young playmakers in Europe, one that eventually earn him the club's captain arm band.
Rakitic made 59 appearances in his three seasons with the Sevilla, scoring 15 goals, and led the club to victory over Benfica in the 2014 Europa League.
The Croatia international will most likely fill the void left by Cesc Fabregas who joined Chelsea FC last week.
Rakitic is currently in Brazil on national duty for his country in the ongoing FIFA World Cup duty.
