Nasri Edging Close To New Manchester City Contract
Samir Nasri is expected to sign a new long-term contract with Manchester City when he returns to pre-season training next week.
The 27-year-old midfielder's existing deal expires next year and club officials want to extend it by a further four years.
A verbal agreement was reached before Nasri departed for the summer break.
The former Arsenal man had a superb season for City although he was not selected in France's World Cup squad.
Former manager Roberto Mancini paid a reported £25m to bring Nasri to the Etihad Stadium from the Gunners in 2011.
He suffered a loss of form during the Italian's final season in charge of the club but has been rejuvenated under Manuel Pellegrini and scored seven goals in 34 appearances last term as City regained their Premier League crown.
Whether James Milner will follow Nasri's lead is unclear.
The England man, 28, also sees his deal expire in 2015 but has been frustrated by a lack of opportunities to play in his preferred central midfield role.
