Vela To Miss World Cup

Real Sociedad striker, Carlos Vela will not be part of Mexico's squad at the forth-coming World Cup taking place in Brazil after meeting with officials of the Mexico football federation.

The Striker met officials of the Mexico Football Federation, led by  the national team director Hector Gonzalez Inarritu, and national team coach, Miguel Herrera to discuss his interest and intention of returning to the national team but he turned it down saying he is not "emotionally or mentally" ready to return to the international fold.

Vela has not featured in the national team since 2011 due to a fallout with then-coach Jose Manuel de la Torre and criticism in the press.

"Therefore, Carlos Vela definitely will not be selected in the course of this World Cup process," the release stated.

Vela has scored 12 goals in 35 games for his country, and 14 goals in 33 games for Sociedad this season.

Despite Vela's absence, the Mexico head coach, Miguel Herrera, still have a long list of good potent strikers to pick from - the likes of: Javier "Chicharito" Hernandez, Oribe Peralta, Raul Jimenez, Giovani Dos Santos to mention but few.
