Ibrahimovic Scores A Brace As PSG Humilate Leverkusen

Incredible Ibrahimovic set for best ever scoring season with 41 goals in 41 games

Zlatan Ibrahimovic scored a brace as Paris St-Germain thrash 10-man Bayern Leverkusen 4-0 away from home during the first-leg of the last-16 round of the UEFA  Champions League.

Blaise Matuidi scored first before Ibrahimovic converted from the spot to extend his team's lead, he(Ibrahimovic) then riffled a left footed shot into the top right corner of Leno's goal making it three.

Yohan Cabaye sidefooted into the top corner after Emir Spahic saw red to seal the victory at four goals to nil.

Ibrahimovic's brace takes him above Real Madrid's Cristiano Ronaldo to become the tournament's top scorer so far this season, with a personal best 10 Champions League goals.

PSG came into the match on the back of only a single loss in the French League and were without their injured mercurial striker, Edinson Cavani, but that did not impair them has they came out strongly and dominated their host to open a insurmountable result over Leverkusen

The visitors made a quick start in Germany as France midfielder Matuidi won the ball back inside Leverkusen's half, before running on to Marco Verratti's through-ball and calmly slot pass Leno, into the net.

Minutes later Ibrahimovic missed a begging chance from close range but he was soon granted redemption when Spahic pulled Ezequiel Lavezzi back off the ball in the box. Ibrahimovic stepped forward and coolly dispatch the spot kick.

In less than three minutes, the lead was again extended by Ibrahimovic who unleashed a wonderful left footed rocket of a shot from about 25 yards out into the right corner of Leverkusen goal after he received the ball from Matuidi just outside the penalty area.

Leverkusen's woes were compounded after the break as Spahic was sent off when he was handed his second yellow card of the game for pushing Lucas Mora.

PSG thought they had made it 4-0 when Matuidi's shot deflected into the net  only for the goal to be ruled out because Lavezzi was offside.

They would however get their fourth of the game when substitute Yohan Cabaye fired home from 18 yards, scoring his debut goal since joining from Newcastle in January.

PSG take a big advantage into the return leg at Parc des Princes on 12 March knowing no side has ever overturned a 4-0 deficit in the competition.
