Manchester United striker, Wayne Rooney has commited his future to the club by putting pen to paper on a new £300,000-a-week, five and half year deal on Friday.
Thou he has been in spectacular form for his team in recent years, his future at United has been a doubt, thereby, drawing bids from several clubs with Chelsea at the forefront of the bids, and United had to fight off two different bumper bids from the Londoners to keep their prolific point man.
With the new deal signed, United are certain Rooney will remain at the club until June 2019, committing the rest of his top-flight career to the club.
Rooney's new deal means he is the highest paid player in the League.
The new deal is also expected to mean that Rooney succeeds Nemanja Vidic as captain next season, although Moyes said that the decision will not be made until the summer.
He is also expected to be the club's ambassador when he retires
In order to make sure that he gets the most out of the remaining years of his career, it has been agreed that United’s commercial department will take over the handling of his endorsement contracts from now on.
