Bayern Munich winger, Frank Ribery, will miss the Bavarian derby match agaisnt Nuremberg Saturday due to Injury.
The France international had surgery on Thursday to repair a burst blood vessel in his buttock so will be unable to feature for his side in this weekends fixture.
A club statement reads: "Surgery became necessary at short notice because bruising associated with the damage was affecting a nerve.
"Ribery will remain in hospital until Sunday and will undergo a post-operative examination the following day.
"That in turn will allow medics to assess the length of the player's lay-off."
Ribery was a key figure in the clubs success last season where they won a double under then coach Jupp Heynckes thereby winning the European footballer of the year 2013 and has been very instrumental in the club's run of form so far this season under former Barcelona Coach, Pep Guardiola
Nuremberg, who are only outside the relegation play-off place on goal difference.
