Wenger inquire About Matuidi

Arsenal, in a bid  to strengthen their midfield ahead of Friday's transfer deadline has moved for Paris Saint-Germain Midfield enforcer, Blaise Matuidi by enquiring about his availability.

Injury to Wales international, Aaron Ramsey which has left just Mikel Arteta as the only fit Central Midfielder prompted the arsene Wenger led side into the market for a cover.

It is understood that the Gunners have told PSG that they are willing to pay a significant fee for the France international, who can leave on a free when his contract expires at the end of the current season.

Thou League 1 money bag has not rebuffed Arsenal's strong interest in the combative 26-year-old midfielder, they have not accepted the offer either.

Manchester City had earlier made a move for the France international but the offer was immediately turned down by the Ligue 1 leaders.

The immenent arrival of Yohan Cabaye from Newcastle to create more competition in the midfield may prompt the eventual sale of the midfielder coupled with the fact that PSG would rather sell him now than loose him for nothing in the summer.
